35 minutes, a tribute to new music on Transparency

Transparency is an independent label that I occasionally work with, and I want to share some new music from four fine artists.a

Tonight we present the world premiere of two tracks from Alessandra Celletti's latest album, recorded in Rome. It has a working title of Les Enfants du Roi, though that may change.  She is one of the great impressionist interpreters of our time, but her original compositions carry, through their interlocking lines and her immaculate timing, a deep emotional charge as well.  This is modern classical music at its best.

Space rocker Helios Creed, former member of Chrome and influence on much modern psychedelia, has recorded his first solo album in five years.  It's called Galactic Octopi, and we present the premiere of Galactic Center, in a mix that was finished just before being sent to me for this show!

Transparency has had a long association with the music of the master Sun Ra and his Arkestra.  Now, in association with Michael D. Anderson, the Arkestra archvist, we present a preview of the upcoming multi-disc box set on the early history of the Saturnian from Birmingham, entitled The Eternal Myth Revealed, Part One.  And this is what we get from merely opening the vault -- wait till you hear what's coming next!

Lane Steinberg is one of my favorite modern musical artists.  I even devoted an entire Chill Room to him back in 2009.  Transparency is about to release the new album by Lane with friend and musical partner Steve Barry and their band Tan Sleeve, and we share a perfect rocker from their album Too Big to Fail.

Setlist:  Alessandra Celletti-Crazy Girl Blue / Helios Creed-Galactic Center (H Mix) / Sun Ra Arkestra-preview material from The Eternal Myth Part One with Ra talking of his youth and the Arkestra doing the song Tequila from 1958 / Tan Sleeve-Fading Out / Alessandra Celletti-All Things Shining

With thanks to Michael Shappard, thanks to Alessandra, Helios, Michael Anderson, Lane and Steve.  Thanks to my listeners, and to Daniela, to Lux and Aleph.

The Chill Room Cosmic Therapy

The Chill Room, 20 March 2010 0200PST on killradio.org.

160k, 73 minutes, Sun Ra in a collage, music from 1946-1972.

This has been one of the most successful Chill Rooms of all time, but sadly the link no longer works.  So you cannot listen or download this program here, but if you go to http://radio4all.net/index.php/program/54253 you can still access this fine show. Please do!

This music really does have SPACE in it -- inner and outer, space for listening, space for thinking, space for dreaming, room for everyone to thrive and grow. This music also has both a sense of humor and of true beauty and is as mind boggling as it can be. And it will clear your head like nothing else. What I have done is collaged together about thirty of my favorite segments of Ra's music and it makes its own reality. Enjoy, learn and please leave a comment.

Special thanks to wfmu.org, my listeners (who stayed with me even when the first attempt at this show glitched out and it had to be redone), and to Michael Sheppard www.transparency.us.com. The painting is Splash of Recovery by Alan and Cheryl. Salut, Sonny, you really were One of the Gods. May this program change the planet.

The sound of joy is enlightenment. Space fire truth is enlightenment. Space fire, sometimes it's music, strange mathematics, rhythmic equations. Hereby, my invitation, I do invite you to be of my space world.
