The Last Poets, deep listen

The Chill Room, 1 April 2011, 11pm PST on killradio.org

128k, 24 minutes, Black Is

The Chill Room is divided into segments, the final segment of which is usually the posted show.  The last few months I have been making the early segments into user-friendly Deep Listening times, focusing on favorite artists and music.

For the first time I am now posting one of these earlier Deep Listening segments, this time about the pre-Hip Hop rappers, The Last Poets.  While most people may recognize some of this, as it has been sampled forever in modern music, I note that many young people do not know these fascinating pieces of potent, angry, realistic poetry.
