The Other Art Talk - A Discussion with Long Beach Museum of Art's Director of Collections-Dec. 4, 2011
On December 4, 2011, The Other Art Talk interviewed Sue Ann Robinson, Director of Collections for the Long Beach Museum of Art. Since the 1950s, the Long Beach Museum of Art has been the city's premier cultural arts center. LBMA's permanent collection features over 3,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, works on paper and decorative art objects, with a focus on early 20th Century European Art, California Modernism and contemporary art of California. Ms. Robinson is LBMA's Director of Collections and in this interview she provides wonderful insight into the workings of the LBMA!
Did you know that LBMA has been a major center for the video arts? Currently, LBMA is hostidng "Exchange and Evolution - Worldwide Video Long Beach, 1974-1999," as a part of the Los Angeles-wide Pacific Standard Time exhibition. The exhibit is on display through February 12, 2012.

The Other Art Talk - A Conversation with Shay Bredimus Nov. 19 2011
Shay Bredimus is an accomplished realist figure painter and tattooist from Phoenix, Arizona. He received a BFA from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC and his MFA in painting from Laguna College of Art and Design in 2008. He is represented by Koplin Del Rio Gallery in Culver City. As a figurative painter, Shay employs languid and gestural marks using tattoo ink on drafting film to portray spontaneous and personal moments of his models. His classical training in portraiture is evident, to which he has added aethetic influences from Japanese tattoo and Ukiyo-e prints.
