...this is CBS' live coverage of the Joint Session of Congress in which FDR made his "Day of Infamy" address, requesting a Declaration of War against Japan, officially drawing the United States into the Second World War. CBS was supposed to cut the microphones when the floor debate started on the declaration, but didn't, so they illegally broadcast Congressional proceedings that day. ;-) In addition, note how the CBS reporters keep making references to Rep. Jeannette Rankin, R-Montana, who, in addition to being the first woman elected to Congress, would become the only Representative to vote against the entry of the USA into both World Wars...
